Scot’s practice is focused on complex insurance defense and coverage litigation. Scot also handles complex commercial litigation and serious injury litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. After graduation from law school in 1984, Scot worked as a law clerk for Judge Sam C. Pointer in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. During that time, he assisted Judge Pointer in writing the Second Edition of the Manual on Complex Litigation. Scot returned to Oxford in 1985 and has worked in his current firm ever since – he likes to note that he has not made it very far in life since he was born 75 yards away from his office. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Scot was lead defense counsel for thousands of bad faith insurance claims, with ongoing litigation for many years. Outside of work, Scot enjoys hunting, dogs and living in the country.
